New Jungle Terrain

 All,

Since I'm showing off various 15mm forces, I figured I'd do a quick post to show you some jungle terrain I picked up off Ebay as a Christmas present.  Not super cheap, but not exorbitantly expensive, either, and it's super cool looking (in my humble opinion).  It's all painted styrofoam with some flock thrown on and lichen and trees stuck on with a glue gun.  As a matter of fact, that's my only complaint about this stuff, in a few places you can see the lines from the glue gun stretching across.

I've got big plans for this stuff, looking at it for WWII in the Pacific and the Vietnam War/IndoChina.  I can definitely fill a 6' x 4' table of jungle now.

Here's the whole group; actually, as I was cleaning up I found one more piece, so I tacked a couple photos of it on at the end of this.

A cool little piece, it reminds me of the final position the Rangers took up in the novel "Charlie Mike" (as they were being overrun).

Pretty cool stuff, I think, and I've really been daydreaming about using it for some US Marine Force Recon missions in Vietnam using Osprey's "Black Ops."  

Anyhow, hope you like it, and I'll look to get it out to play with as soon as I can, but I have a feeling I'm headed for WWII in Europe first.

More 6mm WWII Stuff Completed

Hello everyone, thanks for stopping by!  Can't claim that this project is finished, don't know that my 6mm WWII project will ever be finished.  Hell, I know it won't, but that's okay, because it's a journey, and I've got two forces that are plenty big enough to play plenty of games with, I just keep adding more. And that's what this is; while someday I hope to get to collecting forces for early Barbarossa and North Africa, I've been working on NW Europe, both summer and winter for awhile, and I'm here to show you some recently completed troops for those.

Here's what I just finished, both German and Allies for winter (left), summer (center/right), and even some terrain.

A look at all the winter stuff: 4 German 88s (Heroics and Ros), four German Nebelwerfers, three German MG-42s, three German 80mm mortars, three Allied HMGs, three Allied medium mortars (all Baccus), and two US 90mm AA guns (HR, will also be used as Soviet 85mm AA guns).

Different look at the MGs and mortars.  I really love the Baccus MGs, which are cast on a penny-sized base as one piece.  The mortars conventional strips you have to cut up and base yourself.

And then some buildings.  Now, I really hate painting up houses, and I'm not very good at it, but these turned out okay, I think.  Or at least, they should look okay at tabletop range ;)  I apologize, I don't recall the manufacturer of these two; they've made of resin.

And a bridge!  If you're gonna have rivers, ya got to have bridges, and now I have four, so I should be okay in most scenarios.

A Painting Update

All,

After last weekend's painting fest, I've been able to get some more stuff done.  In this edition, I grassed the 15mm Aussies and Italians and the 10mm FFL project troops, I completed all my jungle and village stuff from Flashpoint Minis, I got some more 10mm Modern troops prepped, and I'd like to introduce some fine looking 3D prints from Butlers Printed Models.  Oh, and I bought some more read-painted terrain from Battlefront!

And let's get to those 10mm Butlers Printed models: truly fantastic!!!  I went in for four HMMWVs, two with Ma Deuce, one with TOW, and one with Mk19.  The TOW is actually from Minifigs Modern US, as is the figure in the cupola for one of the .50-cal gun trucks.

Some more BPM heavy metal (or light plastic, as it were): a pair of LAV-25s, and, with all this talk of NATO, I went in for some old fashioned panzertruppen.  I almost painted them some camo-scheme based on dunkelgelb, but figured that could have folks coming out of the woodwork to accuse me of being a closet Nazi, so I went with a simple olive drab.  I'm only sort of joking; such is the state of affairs on some 'wargaming' forums.  Anyway, I digress, and I apologize, from here on out, let's stick purely to wargaming.

And a Leopard II, one of my favorite tanks, based purely on aesthetics.  And not the (relatively) new, redesigned, Transformers-looking monstrosity, but this one, this model, whichever one it is.

And let's get some Russkies: a ZSU-23-4 and a BRDM scout car, primed medium green and heavily dry-brushed.

Yes, more.  A closeup of the flocking I put on the tree and bamboo bases.  Not beautiful, but passes muster in my book.

You can see the huts I just did (on right) are a bit darker than the ones I did previously.

I prepped some more 10mm Modern troops.  Need to sand them, prime them, paint them, wash them, and grass them.  But then they're ready ;)  Put the Peter Pig US Marines on pennies, need to grass them.  Put Jimmi's Montagnards on popsicle sticks.  Still have the hotel and train station to paint.  Also found some roadblocks that are primed and ready for paint (bottom center).

The new stuff from Battlefront.  I ordered their craters and their 'shattered battlefield.'  This is really awesome, stuff I badly need, and I didn't have to do any work!!!!
