28mm WWII Winter Germans by Warlord

 All,

So, here we are at the first (of several) forces I did not build and paint myself.  This entire force was built and painted by "King's Colours" on Ebay.  He does great work and I really didn't feel like painting and basing snow troops so I splurged and bought these (as well as Soviets and Americans in the snow).  It's all Warlord stuff from one of their Army boxes, and it's built in what you'd need for a rifle platoon, and it's painted and based very nicely.  My only complaint is that there are a number of panzerfausts and Stg-44s, making it suitable only for late war, so I am going to have to buy some infantry types and paint and base them myself in order to have enough troops to run early/mid-war rifle platoons.  But that is not the fault of the guy I bought them from, that is just an issue of personal preference.  All in all I'd say it was money well spent, and I'll just flesh these out with a few packs from Nick at Northstar (either Artizan or Crusader).

The whole mess: we've got a few HQ types, three NCOs with MP-40s, three MG-42 teams, ten riflemen (with Mausers or G43s), six men with Stg-44 assault rifles, six guys with rifles and panzerfausts, a sniper team, a flamethrower team, a panzerschreck team, an MG-42 on tripod, an 80mm mortar team, and a Stug III with long 75 and sideskirts.

Aside from more riflemen, it's on my mind to get an ATG and another MG team.

The HQ types, with two officers and a medic carrying a wounded soldier.

The officers, very nicely cast in metal, very nicely painted.

Reverse.

The doc and wounded soldier.

Reverse.  I love how he drybrushed white all over them to get them that frozen look, but I'm too scared of ruining the paint jobs to do that!

The three squad leaders with MP-40s.

Again.

The six soldiers with Stg-44s.

A closer look.

More.

The guys with panzerfausts.

Closeup.

Again.

The three MG-42 teams, gunners and assistant gunners.

The three gunners; again, no possibility for firing poses in this set.

The A-gunners, with ammo boxes and spare barrels.

A look at some riflemen.

I do love the pose carrying the mine.

A couple more riflemen.

The panzerschreck team.

The flamethrower team.

The sniper team.

The MG-42 on tripod.

Reverse.

The 80mm mortar team.

Reverse.

And the Stug, in whitewash.

Pretty doggone cool, just need a few more troops to fill them out for the entire war and they'll be set.

V/R,
Jack
